I believe that the quality of our relationships determine the quality of our being. I therefore focus on navigating my clients through interpersonal challenges, conflicts and isolation and psychological symptoms that they may experience as a result of this. Being an expat myself my practice in Belgium is focussed on assisting expats and internationals in their process of adjusting to the new culture and country. Expatriation can easily leave you feeling overwhelmed and deeply isolated, amplifying "cracks" in your relationships.

I am a psychologist trained in neuroscience research and a yoga teacher, with an initial degree in political science. I am sensitive to the psycho-social aspects of pathologies (marital and parental problems, eating disorders, stress, etc.) and I am convinced by psycho-corporal approaches. I identify with Positive Psychology and practice brief therapies, including conversational hypnosis. I like to work with the patient in a relationship of perfect equality, an active collaboration that allows us to find together a path towards well-being.

Psychologist Marie Van Der Elst can welcome you during the week at the Aeternalis practice at Rue Alfred Stevens 78 in Laeken. After having obtained her master degree in clinical and psychopathological psychology in 2020, she is now dedicated to receiving you in this new practice, a very clean center. She can take you for the management of anxiety, stress, depression or anger. She also treats eating disorders and emotional problems. IMPORTANT NOTE: She consults by appointment only.

In 2017 I graduated as a Clinical Psychologist at the Free University of Brussels. I did my internship at the Psychiatric Department (PAAZ) of the UZ Brussel in Jette. Gradually, I expanded my independent activities into two multidisciplinary practices, including PMC Ede. Furthermore, in the future I would like to follow a training for behavioral therapist. As a psychologist, I am highly motivated to fully dedicate myself to each individual. Respect and customized counseling are of paramount importance to me. My goal is to provide everyone with appropriate support, no matter how challenging some cases may be. I am a member of the Psychologists Commission, with recognition number 922117836. I am also a member of the Belgian Federation of Psychologists (BFP) and the Flemish Association of Clinical Psychologists (VVKP).
