Dr. Gert Van den Bogaert completed his orthopaedic training in Flanders at the University of Leuven. In order to enrich his skills, he attended various renowned centers in Belgium but also abroad (USA, Switzerland, South Africa). For 20 years he worked as a shoulder and knee surgeon in the orthopaedic department of Herentals (Antwerp). Based on this experience, he mainly focuses on the treatment of complex shoulder pathology and reconstructive knee surgery. Specializing in surgery: - shoulder instability, - shoulder wear injuries, - rotator cuff arthroscopy, - shoulder prosthesis (custom-made prosthesis for complicated cases), - reconstruction of knee deformities, - knee prosthesis, - shoulder and knee traumatology.

    Hello! I've had pain in my left arm for about 6-7 months. It began with finger numbness and progressed to constant pain and high sensitivity on the two last fingers of the hand. The numbness was gone after some electric stimulation, but the pain lingered depending on the weather. I had the EMG/ENG electromyography/electroneurography done, but nothing on the test. Some guidance please?

    • You probly have a contracture of the posterior scapular muscles. This muscular cramp gives typical irradiating pain.
      I would give a trial session of dry needling .

      Dans un premier temps, il est conseillé de consulter votre médecin généraliste ou médecin du sport. Celui-ci pourra évaluer si une imagerie médicale est nécessaire (radiographie ou échographie), initier un traitement médicamenteux (anti-inflammatoires), proposer une adaptation de la charge et éventuellement recommander des séances de kinésithérapie.
      Si ces premières étapes n’apportent pas d’amélioration, il est préférable de consulter un physiothérapeute ou un chirurgien orthopédiste.
